create a life that makes you feel alive

If you don’t go out in the woods nothing will ever happen and your life will never begin.” — Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Ph.D.

There is a moment in my life, a line in the sand, that marks my entrance into the woods.

It was a day in June several years ago — when I made one of the boldest moves I’ve made in my life thus far…

After over 2 decades of education, 2 law degrees (and 2 undergraduates), several years of practicing in top tier law firms across two countries, and realizing a dream I had since I was 16 years old…

I walked away from it all.

From the very first day I started practicing at a big law New York City firm, something deep inside my gut felt off. I remember telling my partner that very day — if this is what it’s like, I’m not sure this is for me…

But in the excitement of this new position and my new life in New York, I left that feeling alone and continued down the path I had worked so hard for.

As months turned into years, the misalignment set deep into my body.

It wasn’t just the bone deep fatigue, frustration, and lack of enthusiasm I felt for life;

it wasn’t just that I didn’t enjoy or find meaning in my work ~ the very thing I spent 12+ hours a day performing;

it wasn’t just that I feared admitting to myself that maybe after all this time and effort, this career isn’t actually what I want;

It was, mostly, this deep gut feeling that I could no longer ignore. As if something from deep within me was sending out flaring code red signals — it’s time to leave, now.

It didn’t make sense to anyone else. My parents were worried. My friends were supportive but probably also confused.

There was no one I could explain this deep wild call, to walk out into the woods and carve a path that was mine alone.

A path where the work I was doing feels meaningful and expansive (not just good on paper). A path that honored my deeply curious and creative nature. A path that empowered me to explore my passions and desires, and to connect with other brave spirits who are walking (or feel pulled towards) something more.

As it goes when you step into the unknown, life starts to bring you people, experiences, and teachings to broaden your perspective and shine clarity on your path. I started to dive into everything that sparked resonance and curiosity, including a profound system called Human Design ~ a technology that reflects a blueprint of your energy and life path.

Like many others who learn about their human design, it immediately resonated with me ~ it put words to my energy type, my inner rhythms, my decision making style, my career desires, and provided nuance to the ways I relate and connect.

In very practical language, it handed me a compass that guided me back home to myself.

Human design gave me a language to trust myself, even when it didn’t make sense to others. Clients often describe human design as a permission slip — an affirmation (or the gentle nudge) we sometimes need to remember that we already know the answers we’re looking for.

That actually, there is a flow to your life ~ and maybe you can stop treading upstream and let the river carry some of your weight.

“Aaliyah's beautiful reading gave me clarity on my gifts to approach my career differently. I was struggling at work; this session broadened my perspective and helped me remember who I am. Aaliyah brings a warm and caring energy, I felt seen and held.” — Nathalie

Looking back, I can see that walking away from my career (and all the identities, beliefs, and attachments that came with it) was a crucial turning point in my life.*

In going out into the woods (the unknown), I’ve had to learn to trust myself, even when I can’t explain why to others. I’ve had to learn to slow way down — to stop rushing through life on autopilot and really hear my body’s guidance. I’ve had to let die the parts of myself that feel I have to prove, rush, over-explain, people-please, justify, or not take up space to make others comfortable.

I’ve had to trust my passions and interests, all 10,000 of them, and learn to honor my own unique process — in life, creativity, career, lifestyle, and beyond.

And honestly — in case you think this story of leaving my corporate career (or finding human design) led me to a life of clarity and ease and immediate alignment…. ehmmm NO. (And — have you spent time in the woods?!) The woods are terrifying, dark, confusing and shadowy, as much as they are wild, majestic and awe-inspiringly beautiful. Being in the wild (physically or metaphorically) forces you to confront your every survival instinct and basic conditioning.

But on the other side, you become a stronger, wiser, more grounded version of yourself. You learn that you will fail, and you will pick yourself back up. You learn that you can lose everything you thought you wanted and gain even more. You learn that you are unique, and your life has meaning, and there are people who truly love you for you. You pick up many tools and experiences along the way that remind you of your power.

I am still learning, and also I have learned.

The Reading is a single 90-minute session personalized to meet you exactly where you’re at ~ whether you’re craving deeper clarity about yourself, your career, relationships, creativity, or life as a whole. We will explore a language for remembering your unique essence, gifts, and energy. A practical roadmap back to your body, your intuition, your wisdom. While the sessions are rooted in human design, they also draw on my years of life and study in business, creative living, yogic philosophy, and mentoring.

Please note: all sessions are charged in USD. All sales are final.

*In case there is any doubt, I am not advocating for anyone or everyone to leave their career/relationships/etc. or that what worked for me will work for you. This is simply a sliver of my story ~ of how I ended up venturing into the woods, and one of the many tools that helped me find my way (yin is another). Use your own discretion, create your own path.

“Before starting sessions with Aaliyah, I felt a bit lost. I knew about Human Design and that I was a Generator but I didn't know how to use that in my life to make impact. The feelings of inadequacy because I could never stick to one thing or be a starter finisher really impacted my self confidence. When our sessions started, I loved and appreciated how easy it was for us to talk, share emotions and feel the safeness of the space Aaliyah has created for her clients. Over the sessions, I gained clarity in my abilities, I developed confidence in who I was at my core and learned a lot about how to take my self awareness and what I already knew of myself but put healthy habits and practices into place. Aaliyah helps ease you into the comforts of who you are and allows you safe space to explore your inner thoughts and personality. I absolutely love working with Aaliyah and will always and forever be grateful to her for all her teachings and insights.” — Aneesa

frequently asked questions…

  • Each session is approximately 90 minutes, providing lots time to dive deep into your chart and explore the insights that are most relevant to you. We'll have space to reflect, ask questions, and allow the session to unfold organically.

  • Sessions are held over zoom. Each session can be recorded and emailed to you afterwards.

  • No worries! If you know roughly what time of day you were born (morning, afternoon, evening, etc.), we can use that to guide your chart. If you're unsure, I can create a few versions based on your birth date and explore which resonates most with you. Many people (like myself) don’t know their exact birth time and still receive meaningful insights and guidance from Human Design.

  • Absolutely! Human Design is a powerful tool for understanding how you work best, how you’re wired to make the most aligned decisions, and how to collaborate effectively with others. Whether you're an entrepreneur, a creative, or in a corporate environment, understanding your design can help you navigate your career in a way that feels deeply fulfilling and in harmony with your natural energy.

  • Human Design is not therapy, but it can complement therapeutic work by offering a deeper understanding of your unique energies and how you interact with the world. It’s a tool for self-awareness and growth, but if you’re seeking mental health support, I recommend working with a therapist or counselor alongside your Human Design exploration.
